Hey Jim:
It seems only fitting that another Holwerda be the first one to leave a message! Our prayers are with you as you embark on this incrediable journey. What a ride! May God give you strength, determination and safe travels as you begin your 9 week venture. May God also answer our prayers as we work together at being part of the solution to poverty and making a difference. We'll be watching your blog for updates. Have a great trip.

Jim,
This is "orientation day". All 190+ of you are chomping at the bit to get going tomorrow. For these last months you have been looking at the whole route and wondering "Am I going to make it?"
Don't look at the whole route anymore. Only look at your next night destination. Then enjoy each days ride that day - smelling the flowers, and truck fumes as you go.
We're praying for your health and safty, trusting that you will find Love, Joy, and Peace along the way.

Hey Bro!
Way to go! You made it! And by now (Wed. evening) I can congratulate you on making it to the top of Bluwett (sp?) Pass as well. So way to go on that one too, though I/we have not rec'd the official word yet.
I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers throughout the last two days. No one had a choice about it but the toughest vertical challenges of the whole 3881 miles came on your second and third days out. And you did it! So you got your wish about getting on with the test, and finding out whether your Midwest training would work in the mountains.
It was great to worship together Sun PM, hang out, and join in the tire dipping and send off on Mon. at Golden Gardens. I know your story and testimony touched a lot of people in deep places.
Nothing profound to say. I know you are being a great blessing to other bikers as well on the road and in the camp. Thanks for taking me/us along on the journey through your blogging and other reports. I can't get enough of them right now. I love you.
Cheers! Praise God!
Shalom,
Peter

So I'm not sure if anyone has commented on this yet. Congratulations on your peaking Stevens pass. I feel like someone, your son a good person for the job, should point out something about the picture of you at the Stevens Pass sign.

You have thoroughly convinced me with words and now an image that Stevens pass truly did test you to the limit.

Look at the picture.Bottom half of you body. Stable. Top half. Well we'll call it leaning (looking more like falling).

Seriously though, I'm proud of you and love following along from the comfort of a desk...
